GDP (aasan bhasa mai)! Or Unconventional viewpoint on GDP!

Image
What comes to your mind when you think of GDP??? Can you explain it to a 5-year-old??? If your answer is NO! then today I’ll explain GDP to you in the most simplified manner. Let’s take an example. You are a current day tea seller and you sell tea to 4 major customers. These are: A society, a private firm, a government office and to your neighbouring stall whose owner sells coffee. You have a contract with the neighbouring stall owner that if he gets an order for tea, then he’ll direct the customer to you and similarly if you get a customer for coffee then you will direct the customer to him. Now problem is that due to Covid there was a lockdown and the people were not coming out to have tea from your tea stall. So, your sales to society and private firm has not happened from past 3 months and these two sectors have not contributed to your revenue at all. On the other hand, the government offices were transformed into testing centres. This led to increased number of people in

NEW EDUCATION POLICY 2020

Image
Education is the finest tool to open the doors of freedom. Education is a concurrent subject. Education is known to be the foundation of any society. It makes the way for a civilized way of living and contributes to the growth and development of the society. The overall literacy rate in India as of 2019 was 69.1%. If education is the foundation then why is neglected in our country. Is the government responsible for it? Or are the citizens to be blamed? Has education become a mere means of agenda to be taken up during election? Or can we blame the system for it? India is a nation that has reached orbit of Mars in first attempt which even superpower like USA couldn’t achieve. So is giving proper education really that difficult!!! Let’s find out. According to national clearing house research center 60% of students in India are graduates. What about the rest 40%. Indian education system has a huge influence of British education system in as indicated in the beginning education ma

Silver Lining in COVID cloud

Image
Thinking of COVID, we start picturing health problems, lockdown, and food crises. Forming a big dark cloud of negativity. But what if I tell you that this cloud has a silver lining to it. I can explain this using a number i.e. 86,400! What do you think?  This is actually the total number of seconds in a single day that has been given to us by the coronavirus. Due to this pandemic, we are by default saving a lot of time, and this saving if used effectively can result in maximum returns later on in life. Here are a few tips I would like to offer:   1) Podcasts: Think it like a superfood for your brain. Sitting right at your home you can access the bright minds around the world. Podcasts can be on any topic like history, science, marketing, finance, etc. There is also a podcast that helps you sleep. The best part is you can listen to Podcast any time, like while cooking, exercising, and cleaning. Here are a few of my recommendations for Podcasts- BBC Earth, 99 percent visible, P

More Menacing Than Coronavirus

Image
Nowadays there is a more deadly disease than Covid-19, which is spreading like a wildfire. It does not get transmitted via touching, through water, or even through sneezing and coughing. And yet the pathogen of this disease is in every hand. And maybe you are affected too!!!   And this disease is called forwarded and received. In simple words, the disease of spreading rumours. Since the outbreak of Coronavirus, the people are discussing this topic so much that everyone thinks that they're doctors themselves. Everyone has their own remedy and they can't resist themselves from spreading this knowledge. This results in a flood of messages on social media. The overflow of information has raised a big question as to what is wrong? and what is right? So, let’s burst a few of the myths you might have come across through the graduates of WhatsApp university and base our knowledge on the data given by authentic sources such as WHO and CDC.   Myth 1. By using a mask, you

Are we really moving towards ATMANIRBHAR?

Image
Are we really moving towards ATMANIRBHAR?   What's the point in shouting this word out loud in public when the facts show the complete opposite? Today, most of the smartphones that are being used in India are still Chinese or having Chinese spare parts. Similarly, our Start-ups are Indian but in them, the most investments are by Chinese corporations. Then why are we stressing on “Vocal for Local”? How does it make any difference? Since the last few months, #Boycottchina is trending in India. But is this only jingoism? An emotional sentiment? Or it has any truth in it? First, let’s understand what is this Atmanirbhar Bharat idea. In simple words, we are trying to reduce the dependence on China and boosting India’s trade globally. The problem with china is this number “50 billion” which is our trade deficit (Total imports – Total exports). Thus, our total imports from China is 5 times more than exports. Why is this difference? One big reason is d

INDO-CHINA SKIRMISHES (A BATTLE ON 3 FRONTS)

There has been a military stand-off between Indian army and PLA (People’s liberation army). Since 5 th may 2020, Chinese and Indian troops have been involved in melee faceoff at LAC, Sino India Border, Pangong lake and Tibet autonomous regions. Chinese have always been speculative about the strategic advantage India might acquire with proper infrastructure along LAC. Due to this China objected the construction of roads in Galwaan Valley region. On 15-16 th June Chinese troops showed a lily-livered action by attacking Indian soldiers from behind and received a befitting reply from Indian troops which resulted in 43 casualties on Chinese side and 20 Indian troops attained martyrdom. Some experts believe that this was a result of the Darbuk-Shyok-Dbo road. India now has 3 fronts to deal with in order to find a solution i.e. Military front, economic front, Diplomatic front. Let’s examine these: 1.     Military front solutions Ø Increasing commander level talks Ø Military exer
